Design Innovation is a specialization of field which includes the main intersection between Art, Business, and Communication that brings together analytic and creative problem-solving skills through a human-centered design approach. Design Innovation focuses on identifying, pinpointing and understanding the needs of the user audience with what is feasible, viable, and desirable from the market opportunity through proof of value, proof of concept, proof of market and proof of impact.

Communication majors study mass media, technical communications, and advertising. Students focus on hhow to write press releases, long-form articles, and technical documents. Students also strengthen their writing and communication skills to prepare them for careers in growing industries. This degree opens up doors to a spectrum of careers, from advertising and broadcasting to public relations, journalism, and publishing. A student examines how media works and affects our society.

A four week intensive experience held in Downtown Greenville where I was equipped with the foundations of business and the fundamentals of innovation and entrepreneurship. Designed for students who want to complement their degree with real-world business and innovation experience. I learned the business fundamentals required to start and run a successful business, such as accounting, finance, marketing, management, leadership and more.  I gained the business fundamentals, innovation and design thinking principles, mentoring and speaker series, and early career accelerating strategies​.

A summer experience and course through a journey of design thinking, with a particular focus on community engagement.

My team worked with Summit Drive Elementary School. Emphasizing the importance of encouraging leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship in elementary education,. I got to collaborate with administrators as we assisted the school in creating a new space— a design lab —to serve as a hub for innovation. I even created my own design thinking method and book.

The Adobe Sales Academy is a multiphase career acceleration program in North America that’s designed to add velocity to the professional sales career you’ve always wanted. I was onboarded through their world-class sales enablement program to enhance my selling skills and learn the basics about Adobe solutions. As an Adobe Business Development Representative, I was able to sharpen my selling skills and build upon my knowledge of Adobe solutions. I was able to focus on developing relationships through pipeline creation, and I was able to use account-based and SaaS methodologies to create qualified opportunities for our Adobe sales team.

A transformational 8-week experience that included mentoring from successful local entrepreneurs and business owners, coaching from experienced design thinkers, instruction from distinguished university faculty, and an investor community that's engaged and committed to supporting aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners. This program helped me move from idea to action, learn new skills, raise startup funding, grow my venture, and connected me with a community of like-minded entrepreneurial thinkers and networking opportunities with local business leaders.
